Edward Cullen:

Edward Cullen ~ Robert PattinsonEdward Cullen (human name Edward Anthony Masen) is a fictional character from Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. He features in the books Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, as well as the Twilight film, and the as yet unfinished novel Midnight Sun - a re-telling of the events of Twilight from Edward's perspective. Edward is a vampire who, over the course of the Twilight series, falls in love with, marries, and has a child with Bella Swan, a human teenager who later chooses to become a vampire also. In the 2008 Twilight film, Edward is played by actor Robert Pattinson.

He was actually born on June 20, 1901. His adoptive father, Carlisle Cullen, transformed him into a vampire in 1918 at the age of 17 to prevent him from dying in the Spanish influenza epidemic in Chicago, Illinois. Carlisle instilled in him a sense of morality uncommon in most vampires, and central to his way of life is the refusal to consider humans as food.

The development of the character was influenced by Gilbert Blythe, Fitzwilliam Darcy, and Edward Rochester—particularly the latter, who, like Edward Cullen, sees himself as a "monster".

Edward is described in the book and by Bella as being charming, polite, determined, and very stubborn. He is very protective over Bella and puts her safety, humanity and welfare before anything else. He often over-analyzes situations and has a tendency to overreact, especially in situations where Bella's safety is at risk. He retains some outdated speech from his human life in the early 20th century. Edward sees himself as a monster, and after falling in love with Bella, he desperately wishes that he were human instead of a vampire.

Physical appearance

Like all the vampires in the Twilight series, Edward is described by Bella as being impossibly beautiful. At various points in the series, she compares him to the mythical Greek god Adonis. His skin is "like marble"—very pale, ice cold, and sparkles in the sunlight. She describes his facial features as being perfect and angular—high cheekbones, strong jawline, a straight nose, and full lips. His hair, which is always messy, retains the unusual bronze shade that he inherited in his human life from his biological mother. His eyes, once green, are now described as topaz. His appearance changes if he goes long without feeding: his eyes darken, becoming almost black, and purple bruises appear beneath his eyes. Edward is 6'2", and has a slender but muscular body.

Vampiric traits; abilities; interests

Edward, like all vampires in the Twilight series, possesses superhuman strength, speed, endurance, and agility, and is described as being inhumanly beautiful. His scent and voice are enormously seductive to Bella, so much so that he occasionally sends her into a pliant daze entirely by accident. In Twilight, Edward explains that like other vampires, he does not need to breathe, though he chooses to do so out of habit and because it is helpful to smell his environment. He cannot digest regular food, and compares its attractiveness for him to the prospect of eating dirt for a regular person. As well, like other vampires, Edward is not able to sleep.

In addition to the traits he shares with his fellow vampires, Edward has certain abilities that are his alone. He is the fastest of the Cullens, able to outrun any of them. Perhaps as a result of a talent for empathy in his human life, Edward can also read the mind of anyone within a few miles of himself; Bella is the sole exception to this rule, which Meyer has stated is due to Bella having a very private mind. Edward also retains some of the traditional mindset and dated patterns of speech from his early-20th century human life.

Edward is musical, able to play the piano like a virtuoso. He enjoys a wide range of music, including classical, jazz, progressive metal, alternative rock, and punk rock, but dislikes country. He prefers indie rock to mainstream, and appreciates rock and classical music equally. He mentions in Twilight that he likes music from the fifties better than the sixties, dislikes the seventies, and says the eighties were "bearable".

A hobby of Edward's is collecting cars. He owns a Volvo S60 R and an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish as a "special occasion" car. He also gave his sister Alice a Porsche 911 Turbo as a gift in Eclipse. He bought a motorcycle to ride alongside Bella, but gave it to Jasper after he realized that riding motorcycles was a hobby she enjoyed sharing with Jacob.

Bella Swan/Bella Cullen:

Bella Swan ~ Kristen Stewart

Isabella "Bella" Marie Swan (later Bella Cullen) is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Twilight series, written by Stephenie Meyer. The Twilight series, which consists of the novels Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn, is primarily narrated from Bella's point of view.

She was born on  September 13, 1987 in Forks, Washington (USA). When her parents divorced, she moved with her mother to Arizona.

In Twilight, Bella moves to her father's home in Forks, Washington, meets the mysterious Cullen family, and falls in love with Edward Cullen. However, she soon discovers that the family is a coven of vampires. Bella expresses a desire to become a vampire herself, against Edward's wishes. In the second novel, New Moon, Edward leaves Forks in an effort to keep Bella safe from the vampire world. Jacob Black, a werewolf from the Quileute tribe, comforts her during that time, and Bella comes to love him, although not as much as she loves Edward. In Eclipse, Bella becomes engaged to Edward, and they marry in Breaking Dawn. Edward then transforms Bella into a vampire after she gives birth to their daughter, Renesmee.

Physical appearance
Bella is described in the novels as being very pale with brown hair, chocolate brown eyes, and a heart-shaped face. Beyond this, a detailed description of her appearance is never given in the series. Stephenie Meyer explains that she "left out a detailed description of Bella in the book so that the reader could more easily step into her shoes."While Meyer stresses that "Bella's looks are open to interpretation", she does supply her own personal interpretation on her website, describing Bella as:

"very fair-skinned, with long, straight, dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her face is heart-shaped—a wide forehead with a widow's peak, large, wide-spaced eyes, prominent
cheekbones, and then a thin nose and a narrow jaw with a pointed chin. Her lips are a little out of proportion, a bit too full for her jaw line. Her eyebrows are darker than her hair and more straight than they are arched. She's five foot four inches tall, slender but not at all muscular, and weighs about 115 pounds. She has stubby fingernails because she has a nervous habit of biting them."

Bella also has a small crescent-shaped scar on her hand where she was bitten by James, a tracker vampire, in Twilight. The scar is described as being pale, always a few degrees colder than the rest of her body, and as shining like a vampire's skin when in the sunlight. After Bella is changed into a vampire by Edward Cullen in Breaking Dawn, in keeping with the appearance of most vampires, she becomes more attractive, her eyes turn red, and her already pale skin becomes even whiter.

Personality traits and abilities

Bella is described as being very clumsy and stubborn. She has a private mind, which is thought to be why Edward is unable to see her thoughts. She is also said to be terrible at lying, but occasionally demonstrates good acting ability. Bella becomes faint at the smell of blood, though this does not bother her once she becomes a vampire. Stephenie Meyer has stated that Bella's "tragic flaw" in Eclipse is her lack of self-knowledge. After being turned into a vampire, she describes having a more clear view of the world. She is also very self-controlled, being able to run away from the scent of human blood on her first hunting trip.[8] Bella's private mind that rejected some vampires' special abilities while she was human evolved after she became a vampire; her ability strengthened into allowing her to shield herself and those around her from the mental powers of some other vampires. She is also described by Edward as "very graceful", even for a vampire, in comparison to her earlier clumsiness.

Jacob Black:

Jacob Black ~ Taylor LautnerJacob Black is a fictional character in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. He is described as a Native American of the Quileute tribe in La Push, near Forks, Washington. In the second book of the series, he undergoes a transformation that allows him to morph into a wolf. In the films Twilight and New Moon, Jacob is played by Taylor Lautner.

Jacob has a small role in the first book of the series. He is the son of Bella Swan's father's friend, Billy Black. When Bella uses him to get information on Edward Cullen and his family, Jacob tells her Quileute legends and introduces her to the idea that Edward is a vampire. Bella comes to like Jacob, and he develops a crush on her.

After months of depression over Edward's leaving in New Moon, Bella finds friendship with Jacob and slowly begins to come out of her depression. Their friendship becomes very strong, but Jacob also develops romantic feelings for Bella that she does not reciprocate. Jacob is also one of an ancient line of "shape shifters" or "werewolves", a member of the Quileute tribe that has forever been the mortal enemy of vampires. Jacob undergoes his first transformation into a wolf in response to a new vampire threat, and he becomes busy patrolling the forest with his pack, searching for vampires in the area. When Bella is caught by the vampire Laurent alone in a clearing, she is saved by Jacob and the pack, who manage to kill Laurent.

Physical appearance

Jacob has russet skin, black hair and dark eyes. In Twilight, he is described as a lanky 6'2" fifteen-year-old with a long black ponytail. By Eclipse, Jacob stands at 6'7" and has a toned and muscular build. In New Moon, after discovering that he is a werewolf, he cuts off his long hair. He later grows it out in Eclipse because he thinks Bella prefers it long. This makes his fur as a wolf shaggier and longer than that of his brothers. He is said to be quite handsome, once being described by Bella as 'beautiful.' He tends to wear only cut-off style jeans or shorts, since clothes are often ruined during his transformations into a wolf. As a wolf, Jacob's fur is described as russet, like his skin.

Personality and abilities

Bella describes Jacob as a "happy person" who extends this happiness to the people around him. As Jacob's character emerges in New Moon, he is shown to be cheery, passionate, adventurous, but hot-headed. Jacob is also able to phase at will into a giant wolf. His body temperature is warmer than a human's, reaching about 108.9 °F (42.7 °C), which allows him to withstand very cold weather. His body also heals quickly, he can communicate with his werewolf pack telepathically when in wolf form, and he is physically stronger and faster than a human. Werewolves do not age if they regularly turn into their wolf form, with Jacob's body physically grown to the equivalent of a 25-year-old. Once they begin phasing, a werewolf may "imprint"—a method of finding one's soul-mate—on someone, and will act as a close family member if the imprintee is not yet old enough to be their lover. Jacob imprints on Edward and Bella's daughter Renesmee in Breaking Dawn

Charlie Swan:

Chief Charlie Swan ~ Billy BurkeCharlie Swan is the father of Bella Swan and works as a police officer in Forks. His hobbies include fishing with Harry Clearwater and Billy Black, as well as watching various sports on TV. Charlie married Bella's mother, Renée, just after they both graduated high school and they soon had Bella. Renée divorced Charlie not long after and moved to Phoenix, Arizona, with Bella. Charlie was still in love with her, but had gotten past the fact that she didn't love him anymore. He became accustomed to living alone, except when Bella started to visit him in the summer. When Bella is seventeen, she moves to Forks to live with him. Initially, Charlie is accepting of Edward as his daughter's boyfriend, but after the events of New Moon he blames Edward for the deep depression that Bella went into after he left her. Charlie is grateful to Jacob because he was a great friend to Bella during that difficult time, and he makes it clear that he'd rather Bella choose Jacob over Edward. At the end of Eclipse, Bella and Edward agree to tell Charlie about their engagement. At the beginning of Breaking Dawn, he is shown to have reluctantly agreed to the marriage. Charlie stays in Bella's life after her transformation, though he is never informed that she is a vampire. At the end of Breaking Dawn, he and Sue Clearwater have developed a romantic relationship.

Charlie is portrayed by Billy Burke

Renée Dwyer
( formerly Renée Swan) married Charlie Swan right after high school, but left with their baby, Bella, and divorced him soon after. Renée is an eccentric, silly person who will brave new things (like skydiving) and come to her senses later. Bella always felt that she was the mother of their relationship, having to guide Renée away from doing ridiculous things, and Renée thought of Bella as her middle-aged child. After Renée remarries a much younger baseball player, Phil Dwyer, Bella unselfishly sends herself to live with her dad in Forks so that Renée and Phil can travel together. Edward describes Renée's mind as being insightful and almost childlike. In Breaking Dawn, Bella is scared to tell her mother about her engagement to Edward, but Renée believes Bella to be more mature than other teenagers her age and gives them her blessing. Bella says she and her mother look alike, but that Renée has shorter hair and laugh lines. She lives in Phoenix, Arizona, in Twilight, and in Jacksonville, Florida, throughout the rest of the series. Bella says in Twilight that her mother is her best friend. After Bella becomes a vampire she doesn't contact her mother, knowing Renée couldn't handle her change like Charlie could.

Renée is portrayed by Sarah Clarke in the Twilight film.

Vampires:
Carlisle Cullen:
Carlisle Cullen ~ Peter Facinelli
Carlisle Cullen
(also known as Stregone Benefice) is Esme's husband and Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper's adoptive father. His first appearance was in Twilight and his physical age is 23. Carlisle is described to look like a model; he has blond hair, stands at 6 ft 2 in (1.9 m), and is slender but muscular. Carlisle theorizes that when a human is turned into a vampire, they will have an enhanced ability from their previous life. He believes he brought compassion from his human life. Carlisle has had centuries to perfect his medicinal talents, therefore making him an excellent doctor. Unlike most vampires, he is not at all tempted by the scent of human blood, due to the over 300 years he has spent holding back his temptations. Carlisle Cullen was the son of an Anglican pastor, born in 1640s London, England, during a time of religious upheaval. His father and other pastors hunted creatures such as witches, werewolves, and vampires, often mistaking humans for them. As his father grew older, Carlisle assumed his role. One night, he was attacked by a vampire and left to die on the streets. Knowing he would be rejected by society, he hid himself and silently endured the painful transformation, emerging as a vampire. Horrified by what he had become, he tried killing himself many different ways, but all failed due to his power. One night, unable to endure hunger any longer, he fed on some passing deer. Subsequently realizing he could avoid feeding on humans, he committed himself to resisting his blood lust and to becoming a doctor.

For a short time, Carlisle lived with the Volturi, though he eventually left and traveled to the New World. While treating patients with the Spanish Influenza, he met an ill woman who begged him to save her dying son, Edward. Out of loneliness, Carlisle transformed Edward into a vampire, and Edward became his companion. Soon after, in 1921, Carlisle moved to Wisconsin where he treated Esme after her failed suicide attempt brought on by her infant son's death. Carlisle felt compelled to save her and transformed her into a vampire, subsequently falling in love with her, and later marrying her. Carlisle then transformed Rosalie Hale, a young woman nearly killed by her drunken fiancé and his friends in Rochester, New York, and left in the street to die. Later, while hunting, Rosalie found a young man named Emmett who had been mauled by a bear, and carried him over 100 miles to Carlisle. Carlisle then transformed Emmett, since Rosalie was unwilling to do it herself, fearing her blood lust would overwhelm her. After Carlisle changed Emmett, Carlisle and his family moved to Hoquiam, Washington where the Quileute Native American tribe offered the Cullens a treaty: the Quileutes would leave them alone if the Cullen family never attacked any humans or trespassed on Quileute land. The Cullens agreed and lived in relative peace until they had to move on. Between the Cullens' first and second stay in Forks, Alice and Jasper joined his coven as well, having found Carlisle on their own. Throughout the Twilight saga, Carlisle works as a doctor, acting as the coven leader and offering medical advice and help when Bella is pregnant in Breaking Dawn

Carlisle is portrayed by Peter Facinelli

Esme Cullen:

Esme CullenFull Name:
  Esme Anne Platt Evenson Cullen
Status:  Vampire
Date of Birth: 1895
Date of change to vampire:  1921 – she was 26
Originally from: Columbus, Ohio
Hair color: Caramel
Eye color: Vampire gold/black
Height: 5’6”
Physical description: Heart-shaped face, small, slender but round
Personality traits: Ability to love passionately
Occupation: Antique Restoration
Family members: Married to Carlisle
Source of change: Carlisle Cullen
Hobbies: Architecture and restoration

Personal history:
In 1911, Esme broke her leg falling out of a tree she’d climbed.  Her family lived on a farm on the outskirts of Columbus.  The local doctor was away, and it was after dark by the time they got her to the small hospital in Columbus.  A Dr. Cullen treated her.  It was his last month in town.  She never got over the experience.

Esme was the last of her friends to marry.  She was thinking of moving West to be a schoolteacher, but her father didn’t think it was respectable for a lady to live alone in the wilds.  The son of a family friend, a man with good prospects, wanted to marry her, and her father pressured her to accept.  She was indifferent towards Charles Evenson, but not opposed to him.  She married him in 1917 at the age of 22, and quickly found that this had been a bad decision. Charles’s public face was very different from his private face; he abused her.  Her parents counseled her to be a good wife and keep quiet.  When he was drafted to fight in WW1, it was a huge relief to her.  When he came back in 1919, it was terrifying.

Shortly after his return, Esme discovered she was pregnant.  The pregnancy was Esme’s catalyst to escape.  She couldn’t let a child be brought into that home.  She ran away in 1920 to live with a second cousin in Milwaukee, and then moved further north when word of her whereabouts leaked to her parents.  She blended in easily, pretending to be one of the many war widows.  She taught school in a small community outside Ashland.  When her baby died in 1921 from a lung infection just a few days after he was born, she had nothing left.  She had no idea that Carlisle was working in the little hospital in Ashland when she jumped off the cliff outside the town.  Carlisle remembered her, of course, as the happy girl she had been at sixteen. He didn’t want her to die and so he saved her.

When she opened her eyes, in all that pain, and saw the face that she’d never forgotten in a decade, she was relieved.  She was not really that upset to find out she was a vampire, but she didn’t take it as in stride as Emmett had.  Still, she was happy to be with the man/vampire of her dreams.  She did always have that maternal ache, and, as the physically oldest of the Cullen’s, she fell into a mothering role.

Jasper served as a Major in the Confederate army during the Civil War.  The vampire family that changed him in 1863 was very different from the Cullens in their dietary habits –they fed off humans.  Jasper became depressed over his way of life and sought something better.  His search led him to Alice in 1948, which in turn led him to Carlisle in 1950.

Jasper has the most difficult time with the lifestyle set by the Cullen family.  He avoids contact with humans, as he is more tempted than the others to drink from them.  Going to school is a difficult task, but he does it for Alice.

He would do anything for Alice, as she is his whole life.  Even though he treats the other members of his family with respect, he isn’t bound to them the way he is to Alice.

Jasper uses the last name of Hale because he and Rosalie look so much alike and people assume them to be twins.   The vampires tend to go with whatever the humans are willing to believe.  Rosalie insists on using Hale as a last name, and therefore, Jasper took it as his, too.

Jasper is potrayed by Jackson Rathbone.

Billy is portrayed by Gil Birmingham.

Sam Uley
Sam is the leader of the La Push pack. His father, Joshua Uley, abandoned him and his mother when he was very young. Before becoming a werewolf, he was romantically involved with Leah Clearwater, his high school sweetheart. His relationship with her started to fall apart after his transformation, because he was forbidden to tell Leah what he had become. Their relationship ended when Sam imprinted on Leah's second cousin, Emily, and went back on every promise he had ever made to Leah. According to Jacob, Sam feels guilty for betraying her and responsible for the bitter person Leah has become. When he phases, he is pure black and the largest wolf, until Breaking Dawn when it is noted that Jacob has grown taller than him. He is the pack Alpha, but not by blood; that role is Jacob's, but he allowed Sam to lead the pack until Breaking Dawn.

Solomon Trimble was credited as "Jacob's friend" in the Twilight film
, but was widely recognized as playing the part of Sam.  In the New Moon film, Sam will be portrayed by Chaske Spencerr.

Paul

Paul
is prone to angry outbursts which cause him to burst into his wolf form. Paul is one of the bigger wolves, and has dark gray fur. He is the most volatile member of the pack, and becomes so enraged when he learns that Jacob has told Bella about the pack that he turns into a wolf and attempts to attack her. He currently seems to have no ill feelings towards Bella or Jacob. Early in Book 2
of Breaking Dawn, Paul is shown to have imprinted on Jacob's older sister, Rachel. This annoys Billy and Jacob because he is always at their house eating their food; however, Billy is happy that Rachel is staying at home longer because of Paul.

Paul will be portrayed by Alex Meraz  in the New Moon film.

Jared

Jared was the first werewolf to phase after the pack's leader, Sam Uley. He is one of the five werewolves to imprint: he imprinted on Kim, a girl he sat next to in class. Before he was a werewolf, he never paid any attention to her. After his transformation, he looked at her once and imprinted.

Bronson Pelletier will portray Jared in the New Moon film.

Embry Call

Embry Call has gray fur with dark spots on his back, and is another one of Jacob's "wingmen". He appears briefly in New Moon and Eclipse. Embry calls Bella Swan  "vampire girl" because she hangs out with the Cullen family. His mother was a woman of the Makah tribe, not the Quileutes; since the werewolf traits are inherited from father to son, he is therefore the half-brother of either Quil Ateara, Jacob Black, or Sam Uley. This causes some stress within the pack, since all of these men's fathers were married before and at the time of his birth.

Krys Hyatt was recognized as playing the part of Embry in the Twilight film, though his role was uncredited. Embry will be portrayed by Kiowa Gordon in the New Moon film.

Quil Ateara

Quil Ateara is a member of the werewolf pack and Jacob's "wingman". He is described as being very muscular. He is only mentioned in passing in the first novel of the series but becomes somewhat of a regular character as of New Moon. Unlike most other members of the pack, he was happy about becoming a werewolf, since it allowed him to finally have his friends' back and understand what was going on. As a wolf, Quil has chocolate-brown fur.

Quil is one of the five wolves of the pack who have imprinted; he imprinted on Emily's two-year-old niece, Claire. Although this seems to cause something of a scandal, Jacob explains that there is currently nothing romantic about it, and that Quil will be whatever Claire needs him to be at each point in her life, whether it be a brother, a friend, a protector, or a lover.

Quil will be portrayed by Tyson Houseman in the New Moon film.

Seth Clearwater

Seth Clearwater is Leah's younger brother and a member of the La Push pack. He has sandy brown-colored fur. He transforms into a werewolf during the events of New Moon, around the same time as his sister, Leah. In New Moon and Eclipse he is shown to idolize  Jacob Black, and is said to remind Bella of a younger Jacob. During the newborn attack in Eclipse Seth stays with Bella and Edward, due to his young age of only fifteen, to act as a connection to the pack. When Victoria and Riley appear, Seth fights and destroys Riley with Edward's help. In Breaking Dawn he is shown to have developed an unlikely friendship with Edward, and attends his and Bella's wedding. Seth remains a constant presence throughout the final book in the series. He is initially the only werewolf to feel completely comfortable being around the Cullen family. He also has, according to Edward, very honest and pure thoughts, something that endears him to the Cullens, and Edward in particular. After Jacob forms his own pack, Seth quickly follows. For most of Breaking Dawn Seth is Jacob's second-in-command, until he is replaced by Leah at the end of the novel.

In 2010's Eclipse, Seth will be played by Boo Boo Stewart.

Leah Clearwater

Leah Clearwater is the only known female werewolf in the history of the Quileute tribe. She transforms into a werewolf during the events of New Moon, around the same time as her younger brother, Seth. This transformation is believed to be what caused the heart attack and subsequent death of their father, Harry. She dated Sam Uley for years, until her second cousin Emily came to visit and Sam imprinted on her. Sam thus left Leah for Emily, leaving her broken-hearted. As a result, Leah is very bitter and cynical, and constantly antagonizes the pack by thinking about things that the others want to avoid dwelling on. She also likes to antagonize Jacob by bringing up the fact that Bella plans to marry a vampire and become one herself, when it is clear that Jacob is still in love with Bella.

In  Breaking Dawn, Leah joins Jacob's pack with the intention of breaking free of Sam since she is still heartbroken. She shares with Jacob several beliefs and insecurities that she has, such as why Sam imprinted on Emily, her regrets that she might be menopausal, and her inability to be of higher rank because of her gender. As she spends more time in Jacob's pack, she becomes happier and makes notable changes in her attitude, becoming less troubling and negative. Later in the book, Jacob and Leah's feelings toward each other have become a trusted comradeship, in which she stands up for him, protects him, and becomes his second-in-command. As a human, Leah is described as beautiful by Bella and Jacob. As a wolf, she is smaller than the others, light gray, and the fastest of all the wolves.

In 2010's Eclipse, Leah will be played by Julia Jones.

Collin & Brady

Collin and Brady are two of the youngest wolves in the pack. In Eclipse, they are said to have phased at the age of 13, and they later make an appearance in Breaking Dawn as part of Sam's pack.

Others

There are seven additional wolves present at the end of Breaking Dawn. These unknown wolves are believed to be very young because of their oversized paws. The alleged reason for their transformations into werewolves is the presence of many visiting vampires at the Cullen residence during this novel.

Ephraim Black

Ephraim Black, grandfather to Billy Black, was the last chief of the Quileute tribe. He was a werewolf/shape-shifter himself, and the Alpha of the pack of three, which included Levi Uley and Quil Ateara Sr. (the great-grandfather of Jacob's friend Quil). He created a treaty with the Cullen family which promised that the werewolves wouldn't expose them as long as the vampires did not bite any humans.

Emily Young

Emily Young is Sam Uley's fiancée and second cousin to Leah Clearwater. While dating Leah, Sam imprinted upon Emily when she visited and began pursuing her. She is described as having copper skin, raven black hair, and three long disfiguring scars running down the right side of her face and down her arms as the result of Sam phasing into a wolf too close to her. The left side of her face is extremely beautiful, as she was before the scars. These scars pull one of her almond shaped eyes down and also tug on the side of her mouth, causing her to have a scowl on one side of her face. Despite this, Emily seems to bear no resentment towards Sam or any other members of the pack. Bella feels that Emily is the mother figure to the pack because she cooks all of their meals and they feel very comfortable and open in her house.

Emily will be portrayed by Tinsel Korey in the New Moon film.

Harry Clearwater
Harry Clearwater
was an elder of the Quileute tribe, having died from a heart attack during New Moon. He left behind a wife, Sue, a daughter Leah, and a son, Seth. Once Bella
learns that Jacob is a werewolf, it is Harry and Billy Black who invite Charlie Swan to La Push to entertain him and keep him safe.

Harry will be portrayed by Graham Greene in the New Moon film.

Sue Clearwater

Sue Clearwater is the widow of Harry Clearwater, who died during New Moon of a heart attack. Sue has two children, Seth and Leah, who are both werewolves.  She became a member of the council when Harry died. In Breaking Dawn, Sue starts spending a lot of time with Charlie and occasionally cooks him meals after Bella moves out of his house. Bella states at the end of Breaking Dawn that Sue and Charlie are romantically together.

Currently no casting for Sue has been made public.

Nomads:

James
The major antagonist of the novel Twilight, James is depicted as a merciless "tracker" vampire who hunts human beings or, in some cases, animals, for sport. Fellow coven member Laurent says that James is unusually gifted at what he does and always gets what he wants, though it is later revealed that a then-human Alice Cullen escaped his clutches some time ago by being turned into a vampire before James could attack. Unlike the Cullen family, he drinks human blood as his food source. Towards the end of Twilight, James is dismembered and set on fire (thus permanently destroyed) by Cullen brothers Emmett and Jasper after he lured
Bella to an empty ballet studio and nearly killed her. The shimmery scar left by his venomous bite still remains on Bella's hand as a symbol of his unsuccessful attempt on her life. James is described as having light brown hair and being quite unremarkable and average-looking.

James is portrayed by Cam Gigandet in the Twilight film.

Victoria

A red-haired, cat-like vampire, Victoria is originally a member of James' coven. She plays a small role in the first book assisting James, her lover and coven leader, in hunting Bella Swan. After James is killed, she decides to exact revenge on Edward Cullen by plotting to kill his partner, Bella. However, Bella is sufficiently protected from her wrath by the  Quileute werewolves. Months later in Eclipse, Victoria creates an army of bloodthirsty newborn vampires in Seattle to rise up against the combined forces of the werewolves and Cullen family. During this battle, both she and her new fighting partner, Riley, are destroyed by Edward and the young werewolf Seth Clearwater. Her supernatural talent is self-preservation.

Victoria is portrayed by Rachelle Lefevre in the films Twilight and New Moon. Bryce Dallas Howard will replace Lefevre in the role for the third film,Eclipse.

Laurent

A dark-haired, olive-toned vampire, Laurent is a member of James' coven in Twilight. When James and Victoria choose to track and murder Bella, Laurent leaves them and travels to Denali, Alaska, hoping to find solace among a coven of "vegetarian" vampires. However, he does not adopt their strict diet of drinking animal blood, and "cheats" by occasionally feeding on humans. During this stay he takes a special liking to a vampire named Irina, though the infatuation is not strong enough to keep him there, as he later returns to Forks in New Moon as a favor to Victoria. During this visit, he stumbles across Bella and tries to kill her, before being ambushed by the Quileute werewolves and subsequently destroyed.

Laurent is portrayed by Edi Gathegi  in the Twilight and New Moon  films.

Newborns:

Riley

As a vampire, Riley is tall and muscular with bright red eyes and blond hair. Victoria bites and changes Riley when he is approximately Bella's age in Eclipse. Once Riley ages and gains some control, he helps to lead Victoria's army of newborn vampires. He performs his work faithfully because of his love for Victoria, which she pretends to return. However, in a battle between the army of newborns and the Cullens at the end of Eclipse, Edward voices Riley's concern that Victoria has been lying to him. Edward first tries to convince Riley to stop fighting, but finally kills him with the help of Seth Clearwater.

In the film  Eclipse, Riley is described as a "good-looking college student" and will be portrayed by Australian actor Xavier Samuel.
