Breaking Dawn Star Maggie Grace Talks About Beauty

We were pumped when we heard that the versatile Maggie Grace had been cast in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. (You might remember Grace from Lost, or Taken, or The Jane Austen Book Club.) The actress will play Irina Denali, a vampire with an axe to grind with Edward and Bella. We recently had a chat with Grace about her cooking experiments and trip-packing skills. Pick up the October issue for that–and in the meantime, check out what she had to say about hair makeovers, something that could come into play for Breaking Dawn, since Irina is said to have silvery-blond bob.

What is it like to dramatically change your hair for a role and look at a stranger in the mirror for weeks? It takes a long time to get used to. And then of course you have the inevitable votes—the boyfriend, the mother, the friends—everyone has strong feelings. But I love the change.

Have you ever had a really great movie makeover and thought, “I should keep this haircut or color?” I had this auburn wavy Saxon princess hair in a play once and I’ve never forgotten it.

Do you try to talk directors in to styling your chracters like that? Oh always! Invariably, that’s part of my take on a character, “You know what? I really feel like she would have red hair.” It reminds me of Anne of Green Gables.

Christina Hendricks started dying her hair red when she was ten years old because she was obsessed with Anne of Green Gables. Oh my goodness! [Laughs] I was that obsessed too. If my mom would have gone for me dying my hair at 10, I would have joined Christina Hendricks in being a redhead.

BREAKING NEWS: Denali Coven has been cast!!!!

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN — The Denali Coven Casting Update

Summit Entertainment announced today the following have been cast in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN for roles in The Denali Coven as outlined below.

Christian Camargo as  Eleazar

Casey Lebow as Kate

Mia Maestro as Carmen

MyAnna Buring as Tanya

Maggie Grace as Irina

  • The Denali Coven is the only other “vegetarian” vampire coven in the world, considered cousins to the Cullens.
  • The next chapter of THE TWILIGHT SAGA will be released as two separate films with the first of the two slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011 and the second coming to theatres on November 16, 2012.
  • Academy Award® winner Bill Condon will direct both films starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. The project, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg with Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Stephenie Meyer producing.

‘Stretch Armstrong’ director reveals expectations for Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner‘s coming Stretch Armstrong writer/director Nick Stoller (hired in April) has spoken up about what fans can expect to see from Lautner and the film whenever it is made. “He will not wear a shirt. Yeah he won’t wear a shirt through the whole thing . . . I’m sure we will find a way for him not to have his shirt on at some point in the movie,” he teased to MTV’s Hollywood Crush.

“It’s really exciting to get to work with a star who’s just so, like, white hot right now . . . And he’s just this really nice kid, it’s such a funny thing to witness. And he’s smart. He’s got really good notes on the script. He’s just the real deal and, yeah, he happens to have an awesome six pack.”

Taylor Lautner spent the summer filmingAbduction, with a role he described to be “a regular guy who is in an interesting situation.” Abduction is really the story of a boy who finds out he is listed as a missing person and has to seek the truth about himself and his family.

In Stretch Armstrong, on the other hand, Lautner would be an outright “superhero.” Back in June,Lautner said “The cool thing with the toy is that there is no story. Like with a superhero you have to stay along these lines, but with a toy you get to create everything, which is super exciting and creative.” Then, there was no finalized script since Stoller was only hired a few weeks prior.

It should be interesting to see what further details about the project are offered in the coming months.Breaking Dawn: Parts 1 and 2 will film between November and March of next year, so Stretch won’t go into production until next year.

‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ star Xavier Samuel lands ‘Bait’

Australia’s The Herald Sun is reporting that Xavier Samuel (“Riley” in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) has scored a new film role in a 3-D thriller entitled Bait.

“[T]he estimated $20 million thriller . . . is about a tsunami that hits a seaside town, trapping local shoppers and tourists in a flooded underground shopping centre with a pack of hungry sharks,” reports The Herald Sun.

Bait will co-star Step Up: 3D star Sharni Vinson, and it will be filmed in Queenland’s Gold Coast.

This won’t be the first time Samuel has worked with water (in EclipseDrowning, and Newcastle, for instance), nor is it the first thriller he’ll have been in (The Loved OnesRoad Kill).

His film Anonymous (which co-stars The Twilight Saga: New Moon star Jamie Campbell Bower) has a release date of September 23rd in the U.S

Site Claims Kristen Stewart’s Iced Tea Break Means Her Celebrity Has Cooled

Talk about missing the point.

On Wednesday,E! Onlinepassed along a rather charming possible Kristen Stewart sighting at Peet’s Coffee in Los Angeles.

A casually dressed woman an eyewitness “swears” was Stewart waited in line and ordered an iced tea to go. When the E! source asked whether the counter guy knew who he’d just served, he supposedly said he didn’t.

“The girl from Twilight,” he was told, to which the employee reportedly replied, “I don’t go for that vampire crap.”

If the story is true, it’s an amusing little anecdote about one of the world’s most recognizable actresses finally getting a bit of the everyday privacy she so badly wants.

But Showbiz Spy, the same site that once put a photo bounty on her head, manages to turn this into a negative for Stewart.

“Kristen Stewart Fading Back Into Obscurity!” announces the headline. The item continues, “Kristen Stewart is losing her star power!”

Wait, let’s get this straight.

If Stewart orders an iced tea without being hounded, it means she’s fading into obscurity?

By this logic, the actress has to be pestered by every person with whom she interacts in her personal life; otherwise, she’s clearly not sufficiently famous anymore.

Sigh.

In light of that photo bounty, Showbiz Spy’s position is clear: Kristen Stewart is only worthwhile if she’s being harassed in public.

Cam Gigandet’s new Vampire Flick Is No Twilight: “We Don’t Have Teenagers With Fangs”

Just because Priest is being billed as vampire movie, it ain’t no Twilight.

Sure, there are bloodsucking creatures trying to take over the world in this movie adaptation of the Priest graphic novel series, but…

“We don’t have teenagers with fangs,” Priest star Maggie Q tells me. “You’re going to watch it and you’re going to be scared s–tless because it is actually terrifying.”

In other words, sensitive romancing fangsters like Edward Cullen don’t exist in this world. “We are not Twilight,” Q says. “First of all, we’re not that good-looking and we’re not perfect and we’re not 12. We’re all old and flawed.”

Q is way too modest. She’s hot. Her Priest costars Stephen Moyer (yes, the True Blood star!), Twilight‘s Cam Gigandet and Paul Bettany are hot, too. I mean, Bettany is superhot. “Ridiculous,” Q says about his ripped bod. “Paul, by nature is kind of a gangly thing, but when he dedicates himself, boy is he hunky!…Paul is just so goofy that it’s hard to picture him as hunky, but he absolutely was. He looked amazing.”

And if you need any proof that Q is quite the looker herself, check out her new television series, the Nikita reboot on the CW. She kicks some major ass. In one scene, she takes on nine guys. “It’s nine guys in a room with sewing machines and people running and screaming and there’s steam and cable and lights,” she says. “Some of my costars have said, ‘You know, Mag, stop being good at fighting one person and they won’t give you nine.”

No surprise—and much to Q’s delight—she’s well on her way to being a lesbian icon. “I think I just sort of shut the girlie off and just go full-on butch the minute a fight starts,” she says. “I’ve got a couple of lesbian friends who are crew on the show and they’re always like, ‘Dude! Maggie, dude—so cool’ I’m like, I’m friends with the lesbians! That takes a lot.”

Rob is back in LA!

Robert Pattinson arrived at LAX last night after flying from London with Tom Sturridge. TheTwilight star’s facial hair has grown since his last appearance a month ago at the Emmys afterparty. Rob’s been keeping a low profile back home in England, after his PDA-filled stay in Canada with Kristen Stewart. He’s still been at the forefront of his fans’ minds, however, earning the title of Glamour UK’s sexiest man. Production on Breaking Dawn is due to start in just over a month, and Edward and Bella’s daughter Renesmee has been cast. With Robert and Kristen reuniting for filming, we’ll get to see more pictures of them together.
