Jimmy Fallon talks Robert is Bothered

Jimmy Fallon stopped by NBC’s day of the TCA press tour on Friday to talk about hosting theEmmys and Late Night. We caught up with him at the party later that night, where we couldn’t help but ask about working with Robert Pattinson on Robert is Bothered. Jimmy had nothing but glowing words for the Twilight star, who caused the loudest fan screams of any guest he’s had on the show. Jimmy also shared his thoughts on this week’s American Idol shakeup. Here’s more:

PopSugar: Can we expect to see Robert is Bothered at the Emmys?
Jimmy Fallon: Of all the bits on our show that we can do, we gave [the Academy] 10 different versions of all sorts of things we could do, to which they said these are all great, but we have to give out awards. So we have to cut it down to three bits. And Robert is Bothered was not in there. I pitched Robert is Bothered for Teen Choice Awards.
PS: How was Robert Pattinson to work with on Robert is Bothered?
JF: He was a great sport. He climbed up in the tree and did it with us. I’ve never heard louder screams in my life. The screams didn’t compare to anyone, even when Justin Bieber has been on. He was describing his movie Remember Me and people would just not stop screaming. And I was just thinking this is so cool. What an experience. I really hope he’s enjoying this ride. He’s a great guy and he deserves it. He was really shy and really happy — exactly the same backstage as he is on the interview. He’s a charming guy, but just really shy and I just hope he’s enjoying the moment. It must be super exciting to be him.

Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Twilight’ becomes thirteenth novel to pass two million in U.K. sales this century

The Twilight series is no stranger to accomplishment, and the latest feat is the fact that Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight has become one of only thirteen novels to pass the two million mark in sales in the United Kingdom this century.

According to The Bookseller, “Stephenie Meyer follows in the footsteps of J K Rowling, Dan Brown and Mark Haddon – the only other authors to have achieved the two-million-in-the-21st-century feat.”

Quite a group to be a part of, no?

Another interesting statistic offered by the source hones in on just how much of a per capita impact the series has had on U.K. fans.

“Last year, one in every 47 books bought in the UK was penned by the US novelist [Stephenie Meyer], while almost 20 pence in every pound spent on a children’s fiction title went towards one of her Twilight novels.”

One can’t help but wonder how those numbers would look in the United States . . . probably pretty similar, don’t you think?

Director Floria Sigismondi Talks The Runaways

With the strange and surreal aesthetic that informed much of Canadian director Floria Sigismondi‘s name-making early music video work (think Marilyn Manson’s “Beautiful People,” or David Bowie’s “Little Wonder”), it might seem a stretch for her feature directorial debut to be a biopic. The Runaways, released last week on DVD, is the story of the quick formation and dissolution of the ’70s all-girl rock band, and in a recent interview with Exclaim!, Sigismondi spoke about her decision to stray from her usual approach and keep it rooted in visual realism.

“My work doesn’t necessarily stay in reality, I like to go and make it my own little world,” Sigismondi says. “I took license a couple of times in the film to kind of maybe be a little more symbolic, or portray a feeling of loneliness, or like your world is falling apart, but for me, it was important to stay in that real world and tell the story without too many bells and whistles.”

Based on former Runaways’ singer Cherie Currie’s memoir Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway, the film is as much a coming-of-age story as it was an historical account.

“For me it was really important to hopefully capture what it was like to be that age, going through that, and being thrown into that rock’n'roll world, and what that meant for them. And I think for each of them it was very different,” says Sigismondi.

The director echoes lead actors Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart’s DVD commentary, in which they explain that the time Currie — and the especially the bands’ founding member/guitarist Joan Jett — spent on set was important. “Having Joan on set really helped because Kristen was able to really sponge off of her, and she really did get her mannerisms down, so that was great.”

Kellan Lutz and Mandy Moore to Wed?! Not Quite…

by Marc Malkin

Oh, to be Mandy Moore!

Not only does Ms. Moore get to lock lips with Kellan Lutz in the upcoming romantic dramedy Love, Wedding, Marriage, she also marries our favorite underwear-modeling Twilight star.

So just how steamy do things get between the two?

Moore plays a marriage therapist who can’t enjoy her own newlywed life with Lutz’s character because she’s such workaholic. The movie opens with their wedding. There is at least one bedroom scene. “Kellan and Mandy try having sex, but she’s too preoccupied with work to focus,” says a source, who has seen an early cut of the movie.

And yes, we’re happy to confirm what Lutz recently told us—he is plenty shirtless in the film. (Big thanks to director Dermot Mulroney for that!) “His body looks hot, and he just walks around the house without a shirt on for no apparent reason,” notes our source.

Also in the flick is Gossip Girl beauty Jessica Szohr, who plays Moore’s wild child sister. “She’s really funny,” the source says of Szohr. “She’s not in it a lot, but when she is, she’s great comic relief.”

Release date for “Water for Elephants” movie

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) – The online movie site Box Office Mojo has reported that the release date for the new movie “Water for Elephants” will be April 15, 2011. This is the initial release date and dates can sometimes change for competitive reasons and for film delays.

Channel 3 has learned actor Robert Pattinson will be in Chickamauga, GA and Chattanooga to film beginning and ending scenes for the film. According to mahalo.com, the story follows Jacob Jankowski (played by Pattinson) who was a veterinary student in his youth. In the movie, Jacob is an elderly man recalling the experiences of his youth working for the Benzini Brothers circus. As part of the traveling group, Jacob was put in charge of taking care of the animals. During his tenure he forms bonds with Marlena (played by Reese Witherspoon) and Rosie. Marlena was a performer who was married to a deranged animal trainer and Rosie was a troubled elephant that the circus was desperate to have trained. The three’s companionship proved a vital factor in surviving the hardships of life on the road with the immoral circus troop.

Based on information Channel 3 obtained from sources close to the film, Reese Witherspoon does not have any scenes planned for the area. Pattinson is expected to be in town Friday and possibly a part of Saturday.

Get Ready Toronto Fans because Twilight Convention is coming to you!

Bring your fangs and capes — just leave the sunlight at home.

Several hundred fans are expected to converge at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel this weekend for the first-ever Ontario Twilight convention, based on the multi-million dollar empire of vampire novels and films.

“It’s a three-day immersion into the whole Twilight saga,” said Gary Berman, co-CEO of Creation Entertainment, which puts on the convention.

“It’s become a social event for fans because they get to meet other fans from their area and people who have met online from various groups actually get to see each other.”

Twilight fans will be able to canoodle with seven dark forces in the series, including Chaske Spencer (Sam Uley), Alex Meraz (werewolf Paul) and Julia Jones (Eclipse’s Leah Clearwater).

Bronson Pelletier (werewolf Jared), Charlie Bewley (Volturi tracker Demetri) and Kiowa Gordon (Embry Call of the Wolf Pack) will also be there.

“I think it’s totally cool when you go to different countries, it’s entirely different but they all have one thing in common — they all like Twilight,” said Booboo Stewart, who plays the werewolf shapeshifter Seth Clearwater in the Twilight Saga and is set to appear at the convention.

“You have your grandmas, your moms and your daughters who all like the same thing. Every generation walks in the door. I’ve always been a fan of vampires since I watched From Dusk Till Dawn.”

Stewart said fans could inspire the actors and get them to try new things.

“One time I was on stage, someone asked if I had seen Star Wars or Harry Potter and I said, ‘No.’ Then this guy came by and he gave me his own copy of Star Wars: Episode One and now, I have almost all the Star Wars movies,” he said.

Fans will also get a chance to check out exclusive footage, panel discussions, Twilight themed parties, musical performances, costume and trivia competitions and auctions.

Some lucky faux vamps will even get a chance to sing karaoke with some of the Twilight celebrities.

“Friday night, they look at the songlist and Julia Jones, who plays Leah Clearwater in the film, hosts. Sometimes some of the stars come by and join and the fans get to sing and it’s a lot of fun,” Berman said.

The only other scheduled Canadian Twilight convention was held in Vancouver next May.

The convention runs from Friday to Sunday.
