On February 11, 2009, Las Vegas native Hannah and Hilly Hindi were thrown into the spot light all thanks to YouTube and something called The Twilight Parody. Do to the success both on the screen and on the book shelves Twilight have inspired many legions of parodies and short internet movies, but none of those can compare to the brilliant and excellence that is The Twilight Parody made by The Hillywood Show, the brain child of sister comedy duo, Hannah and Hilly Hindi.

The Hillywood Show started through a contest in AOL back in 2006. They, meaning AOL, encourage teens to send their own ideas for a web show.

“So, we send in our entry, and out off 100,000 entries we were in the top five in America. It was really exciting and America had to vote for their favorites.” said Hannah, “We came in third place, and we were a little disappointed. The fans were the ones that told us to continue doing more videos.”

The Hillywood Show episodes have such famous characters as: Jack Sparrow, Sweeney Todd, Willy Wonka, Mrs. Lovett, Edward Scissorhands, Doc (from “Back to the Future”), Obi Won Kenobi, Anaki Skywalker amongst many, many more. The idea of these characters is to place them in a wide range of situation and see how the characters react to the situations they are in.

“My favorite character from the Hillywood Show has to be, Edward Scissorhands, I really liked the costume!” said Hilly.

“Mines have to be Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd. Is the costume and watching Helena preformed.” said Hannah.

But, The Hillywood Show’s big break came when in 2009 they made the Twilight Parody. In just one day the video receive over 100,000 hits (views) in YouTube. The idea came from the Fans, but Hilly also wanted to do it into a music video style of Bella singing it to Edward. Using the song from, singer songwriter Katy Perry Hold N Cold, The Twilight Parody was born. The video showed various scenes from the Twilight movie, showing off Bella Swan, played by Hilly Hindi, singing to a reluctant Edward Cullen, played by Jacob Jost. With great dance steps and a energetic vibe that the video carried it was a sure hit from the start.

“I told Hilly that she should play Bella, because she looks a lot like Kristen Stewart. Almost every single person that was cast is really close friends.” said Hannah.

The success of The Twilight Parody was phenomenal and right from the start both Hannah and Hilly where picked up and taken in the twilight storm.

“We really didn’t know what to do. We thought we were dreaming. I don’t even know what to think of It.” said Hilly.

Before The Twilight Parody The Hillywood Show only had a year round total of 65,000 hits on YouTube. But, with the instant success of the parody that number change to 100,000 overnight. Both Hannah and Hilly’s live were change after this.

“Yea, it got us working in the Twilight Conventions.” said Hilly.

After the success of Twilight Parody, the girls decided to go for a different direction for their next parody a darker/funnier one. The Dark Knight Parody.

“We were planning on doing a Jack Sparrow and Joker for The Hillywood Show. But we couldn’t because we didn’t have the DeLorean. It was an idea entirely created by ourselves.” said Hannah.

The Dark Knight Parody was entirely different than Twilight. A darker sense and a comedic take were ever present in the video. Using some scenes from the movie, The Dark Knight, but setting the video in a poker game with Batman, Scarecrow, Two-Face and Joker. It had the same style from The Twilight Parody a music video, but this time it used Lady GaGa’s “Poker Face” and Britney Spears “Circus” to drive the story. The production of The Dark Knight Parody was very different from the previous one.

“More makeup, more extras, lots more insanity. It took a month to shoot. But, it was the hardest to edit.” said Hilly.

But none of the previous parodies can compare in scope and look to the New Moon Parody. Released in January 3, 2010, in a matter of minutes it passed it predecessors.

“We really wanted to focus on Bella personality. And show a bit of a rebellious side to her.” said Hannah.

Using songs like “Thinking of You” by Katy, “So, What” and “Please Don’t Leave Me” by Pink they brought a higher scope and a different look to the New Moon Parody. They filmed a great portion of the video in Forks, WA where the Twilight stories take place. They started to film the parody the day after the movie came out. It took two months to shoot the entire parody with a period of three months of pre-production.

Many would see The Hillywood Show videos and parodies and assume that these girls have all the money in the world to do these stuff, but it will come as a surprise to know that they self fund all their videos.

“Me and my sister, we have our own job and we put together our income. And have faith in the show.” said Hilly.

With the help of many generous fans who donate to The Hillywood Show these girls are also able to do much of their stuff.

The main goal for The Hillywood Show from the start is to get picked up in a network for a TV show.

“Cause it’s really motivational for a lot of kids and teens.” said Hannah.

Lots of things can be said about The Hillywood Show but none is better than what Hannah and Hilly Hindi can say about it.

“Without God we wouldn’t be able to do this.”
