‘New Moon’ Takes Another Bite Out Of The Box Office (November 30, 2009)

Access Hollywood

“New Moon” took the top spot at the box office for the second week in a row over the holiday weekend, followed closely by Sandra Bullock’s touching football drama, “The Blind Side,” in second. But did this holiday box office break any records?

Taylor Lautner’s Hosting ‘SNL’ Soon, So We’ve Come Up With A Few Perfect Sketch Ideas

Hollywood Crush ~ MTV

In case you were knee-deep in Stove Top stuffing and green bean casserole last week and missed the news, “New Moon” hottie Taylor Lautner  will be hosting “Saturday Night Live” December 12 with musical guest Bon Jovi. Though we, along with many Twilighters, had been campaigning for Robert Pattinson to secure hosting duties, we couldn’t be more excited for the 17-year-old to grace the Studio 8H stage. In fact, we’ve even dreamed up a few sketch ideas for the star. “SNL” scribes, we hope you’re listening!

1. The inevitable “Twilight” parody

We know it’s going to happen, the only question is how will it? Though several humorous scenarios ran through our minds (Taylor as vampire!), the one that tickled our funny bones the most was seeing Taylor cast as Bella Swan (just like his maybe girlfriend Taylor Swift was when she hosted!). I mean, come on, he already has the wig for it! With Andy Samberg as Edward Cullen, any moment from either the first or second film would be hilarious, but we’re hoping for the Volterra scene from “New Moon.” Taylor splashing through a fountain and running into the arms of Andy would be epic.

2. Cougar Den

There’s no denying that Taylor drives those Twilight Moms crazy, so a  “New Moon” edition of the “Cougar Den” sketch — the talk show hosted by horny 40-something women on the prowl for younger men — only seems fitting. Here’s hoping Kristin Wiig has a pair of  Taylor undies hiding in her bureau.

3. Taylor “Pantieless” Lautner

Speaking of Taylor panties, one of the funnier aspects of shapeshifting that “New Moon” the movie didn’t touch on is that the shifter’s clothes end up ripped to shreds after morphing, meaning when they take human form again they’re very much au naturel. Well, what if in some bizarro world that were an everyday occurrence for Taylor? What if he spent an entire sketch “naked” behind a bush begging for clothes while passersby gave him dirty looks or asked for his autograph? Funny, right? Added bonus: It would get the hunk out of his shirt, which is always a good thing.

Robert Pattinson Calls Taylor Lautner’s Transformation ‘Strange’

With “New Moon” still riding high at the box office and poised to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year — if not all time — the world can’t seem to get enough of Robert Pattinson. It’s a good thing, then, that our pals over at MTV Radio recently spoke with the “Twilight” heartthrob.

Last week, we brought you Robert’s thoughts on romances, both onscreen and off. Now, as those Thanksgiving leftovers wear thin, we’re happy to dish out part two of that interview, featuring some yummy tidbits on Rob’s 90-year-old fans, jealousy over Taylor’s bod, and his New Year’s resolution to be less self-deprecating.

MTV: Taylor Lautner’s transformation between the movies is now the stuff of legend. Tell us about the first time you saw him and what you thought.

Robert Pattinson: I didn’t see Taylor until just a little bit before we started shooting ["New Moon"]. When he came back, I had the same reaction as everybody else. I was like, “Jeez, now I have to go to the gym!” But yeah, it was strange. This one was weird, because I hardly did any scenes with Taylor. We did the scenes at the beginning and scenes at the end [together], and he had his entire story line develop without me being around, which is interesting, because I had no idea where his performance was going. So it wasn’t really a competition or anything; it was all independent. Whereas in “Eclipse,” we’re doing scenes together all the time with Bella.

MTV: Who is your favorite movie vampire of all time?

Pattinson: Wow, I don’t really know. I always think of the wrong people. I always think Christian Slater in “Interview With a Vampire,” but he’s not the vampire — he’s the interviewer! I really like Wesley Snipes [in the "Blade" movies]. I think Wesley Snipes is great.

MTV: Out of all the “Twilight” stars, you seem to do the fewest interviews. Why is that?

Pattinson: I think it’s such a risky thing doing interviews. I try to limit the amount of interviews I do, because no one is that interesting, especially when you’re not really saying anything. I don’t particularly want to be some kind of character in society or whatever. So I guess the only thing you can do is do jobs and see if people respond to that.

MTV: You tease yourself as “not saying anything,” and a lot of people see you as being self-deprecating. Are you?

Pattinson: I’m always told that I don’t really know who I am, so hopefully I won’t compartmentalize myself because of that. I am just completely ignorant of [how others perceive me]. I’ve never really struggled with anything up until recently. I’ve got to stop being so self-depreciating, because people are starting to believe it. They’re like, “Yeah, that guy is an idiot.” So I’ve tried to stop doing that.

MTV: What was the last fan interaction that really made you laugh?

Pattinson: I always find it funny when older people come up. There was a woman who came up to me the other day who must have been in her 90s! And she said all this stuff; it’s very unusual. And they say exactly the same things as 12-year-old girls! That is kind of bizarre.

Gossip Cop Sets Straight Taylor Lautner Dating Rumor

Gossip Cop

Want evidence that Taylor Lautner is becoming incredibly famous? The Internet is boiling over with rumors about his sexuality.

Specifically, whether the “New Moon” werewolf is dating a gentleman named Sean Fox Zastoupil.

One site places the two together on a “private shopping trip” at Kitson (where “inside sources” claim “they really had a blast”). Others are reading an awful lot into Lautner’s recent Rolling Stone interview, in which he says he’s “possibly” dating someone, but won’t say who. When the magazine refers to his status “as a young person trying to figure out his sexual identity in the world,” Lautner responds, “OK. I see where you’re going. Interesting choice.”

Rolling Stone: “It is a possibility.”

Lautner: “There’s a lot of rumors out there.”

Apparently, merely observing that there are rumors out there about yourself (and not denying them) is enough to stir speculation.

But here is “were” it should end with this wolf. A representative for Lautner, who’s been linked romantically to his “Valentine’s Day” co-star Taylor Swift, told Gossip Cop the Zastoupil rumors are “absolutely not true.”

For World AIDS Day tomorrow, I joined some of my friends from TV and film to make a video sharing our commitment to defeating extreme poverty and preventable disease. I hope you’ll watch, and share your own commitment by passing it on to people you know:

Throughout history we’ve seen how committed people, together, can change laws, break barriers and decide elections. And together, we can defeat extreme poverty and eradicate preventable, treatable diseases including HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis.
But it takes all of us working together across borders, time zones, cultures…through advocacy, action, and awareness-raising.
You can help us raise awareness about ONE and build a better future for millions of people living in poverty. Please join Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone and me, Ashley Greene, from Twilight; Leighton Meester, Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl; Corbin Bleu from High School Musical; Hayden Panettiere from Heroes; Tristan Wilds from 90210; Star Trek’s John Cho and Tropic Thunder’s Brandon T. ‘Twilight’ Author Stephenie Meyer BioComic Book: A Dramatic Reading With Josh Horowitz

MTV

There are many times in this line of work when I find myself suddenly struck speechless. When you’re reporting on Hollywood and the Cult of Celebrity, strange happenings become the norm. So it was when I learned over the summer that “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer was to be the subject of a biographical comic book from Bluewater Productions. On the scale of baffling developments, this one ranked fairly low; I simply processed the news and moved on with my day.

Now the comic is here. And MTV has staged a dramatic, motion comic-style excerpt for you, compliments of Movies Editor Josh Horowitz. And I’m once again struck speechless. Serious this time though. Really… there are no words good enough to intro this clip. So just watch it.

Rpattz and TL new Feud?

(GettyImages.com)

(GettyImages.com)

Let’s see: Take a hugely successful franchise – say, “Twilight” – and add an alleged “feud” between two of its big stars – say, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner – and what do you have? The ingredients for a cliché tabloid story.

“A secret real-life feud between on-screen rivals Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner is threatening to boil over into the public arena and is proving a nightmare for Twilight producers,” begins a piece in Famous magazine.

The article goes on to say, “Rob and Taylor have a working relationship but that’s where it ends. They can just about stand to be in the same vicinity for the fans at public appearances, but once the cameras are gone the bitching begins – and it’s getting a whole lot worse.”

Really?!

And what do you suppose the (fake) friction is over?

A so-called “source” tells Famous, “They’re competitive about everything from girls to their physiques.”

Not true and… not true.

But here’s Gossip Cop’s favorite part. The “source” says, “There’s a reason Kristen [Stewart] is always between them in photos… They can’t stand to be around each other and despise having to pretend.”

Or…

Maybe, just maybe, they pose according the universal convention of “boy-girl-boy.”

Oh wait, one more thing: Note Gossip Cop’s picture (above) of Lautner and pal Pattinson hanging out together at the “New Moon” after-party two weeks ago.

Ashley Greene wants Tim burton!

Ashley Greene spotted talking her dog for a ‘walk’ in Los Angeles yesterday

Ashley Greene says she would like to see Tim Burton direct the final part of The Twilight Saga.

Breaking Dawn, which is the fourth installment of the vampire franchise, is due to go into production next year.

In an interview with
Entertainment Weekly, Greene, who plays Alice Cullen, said she would be interested to see how Burton would interpret the script.

“I think it’d be really cool to have his spin on it, because it’s a very odd book, there’s some very weird moments,” she said.

“He would actually put a really weird and cool twist on it.”
.

Greene also suggested that Breaking Dawn could be split in two films – extending the franchise into a five-part saga.

“You definitely want to get all the important parts in there and you know how hardcore and passionate the fans are about it, so one might be difficult and there would be something left out,” she said.

“So if we could do it right, it’d be great to have two films.”

The Twilight Saga: New Moon was released earlier this month and is currently number one on the US box office.

Filming on the third part of the saga, Eclipse, has already been completed.
